Im new to steelhead fishing, what would be the best rig? like plunking, spinners, etc…?
For big rivers, the most common rig in the great lakes area is a three-way swivel with a foot long leader to a weight and a three to five foot leader to a bait hook tipped with spawn, night crawler, or a wobble-glow type presentation. Also, a float with bait drifted in the current is very popular.
For smaller rivers, in-line spinners and other lures, even jigs, are popular.
If you know how to fly fish, there are lots of other options too.
Best bet: go to the nearest bait shop and ask them what to buy. It will be different on every river but those guys will give you the best advice.

Here’s an easy Paternoster rig, yes there are quite a few ways to tie the Paternoster rig, but when we are out fishing with a heap of customers, this one is about the quickest and fastest method. We use 100lb mono line as we do go through a lot of leader and this works fine. Was using 80lb but losing some really big fish. 100lb doesn’t seem to affect the bites, but you can adept to your local area. Although lighter line, sinkers etc does help with shy fish. Make sure you go through three times whem doing your loops for hooks when tying the Paternoster rig, and up to you, can do for one or two hooks. If getting into big fish, the only problem with double hookups is we were losing the bottom hookand fish with the fish fighting each other and breaking the line Unfortunately, That’s Fishing, but extra tuff when you’re talking 10kg Red Emperor or Huge Nannygai. See how you end up with the Sinker on the bottome and two hooks. Excellant for reef fishing or deep sea fishing in deep water. Also allows a couple of baits to be presented. Another bonus of this rig is you can adjust your sinkers weight and hook sizes if need be or conditions change. Make sure you’re loops aren’t too big to avoid tangles and bad twisting of the line, and the Paternoster loops need to be big enough to go over your hooks. Give it a go next time you go fishing.

What rigs bait line area is best – do i need a licence to fish off a harbour or rocks near the beach etc etc any in fo would be greatly apppreciated
In UK no license is required for sea fishing. It’s all free. Some areas are marked off for study and can’t be fished and some places have local byelaws concerning sea fishing but not many…places or bye-laws.
Obviously care must be taken when you casting if there are people around, as on a popular beach or from a harbour wall.
All about it here. The mist in my pic has lifted now…summer’s here.

All the bass you catch will be this big. In India they grow on trees in the desert.
OK, OK…..they won’t be, mostly.
Live in hope…..have a good time.

I have chartreuse worms, I did some research and found out that the pink ones are better. I want to use up the chartreuse worms first.
So, how do I set up a rig for lake shore fishing?
Carolina rig is the most common method for Berkley trout worms. Preferred sinker size tend to vary depending on personal preferences. I prefer the lightest sinker that will bring the worm down to the bottom while maintaining casting distance. I will use heavier sinkers (1/8oz) only when there is a current or it is windy. Leader length could be as short as 3 inches to as long as 3 feet depending on the conditions. Use short leader when the water is murky or it is very windy and a slooow presentation is used. Leader lengths between 18 inches to 24 inches are pretty common. You can use hook size between size 8 all the way down to size 14. Personally, I prefer size 10 mosquito hooks. If fish are small, you could either shorten the worm or move the hook closer towards the tail portion of the worm; you don’t want to shorten the worm when there is a chance that big fish are in the water.
Chartreuse isn’t a bad color and pink isn’t necessary that good. Chartreuse will work well under low light conditions. Pink tend to work better in slightly tinted water on bright sunny days. Natural/earthworm worked pretty well for me and orange got its fair share of fish too. I will start with natural color if I could see my lure in the water fairly easily.
PS: You will have to match the lure color according to water conditions and lighting conditions.

I’m pier fishing in April at myrtle beach. How should i set up my line(rig)? Where can i buy one pre made?
If you could provide pics or links it would be great! Thanks.
If so what size weight and what size and kind of hooks?
I use these for fishing off piers. tie the one end to your line, put a pyramid weight on the bottom. The other two lines get hooks. I have had good luck with shrimp and squid as bait. Good Luck
Oh, make sure you get a heavy weight or the tide will bring your line back in.
