Im new to steelhead fishing, what would be the best rig? like plunking, spinners, etc…?

For big rivers, the most common rig in the great lakes area is a three-way swivel with a foot long leader to a weight and a three to five foot leader to a bait hook tipped with spawn, night crawler, or a wobble-glow type presentation. Also, a float with bait drifted in the current is very popular.

Here’s an easy Paternoster rig, yes there are quite a few ways to tie the Paternoster rig, but when we are out fishing with a heap of customers, this one is about the quickest and fastest method. We use 100lb mono line as we do go through a lot of leader and this works fine. I am currently in Haarlem, Netherlands so there’s no shortage of water ways, canals and lakes but I don’t know the best method to catch these fish.

I bought a starter kit in a local fishing shop, consists of:

24 grubs,
8 sinkers,
45 hooks ( 3 sizes: one a little smaller than an inch lengthwise, one an exact inch, and the other a little bigger than an inch. )
9 swivels,
4 floats,
3 jigs,
3 spinner blades,

I’ve heard this before, but is it entirely true?

Don’t get caught using it, some places frown on people throwing chemicals into the water.

Also, just go to Http://www.animatedknots.com and figure out how to tie one that won’t come undone. The more bulk that is on your line/knot, the less likely you are to catch something as fish often become "aware" of the line/knot.
