Do we need a short piece of wire or strong nylon to attach the rigged jig to the fishing line?If so,please explain.

it depends on what you fishing for if its a toothy type critter then you need wire or mono over 250lb just tie it using a grinner knot or you could use a snap link the thing with jigs is you dont really need a complicated trace just a heavy swivel and tie or crimp it onto your heavy mono or wire ps you have to crimp wire.

no all you have to do is tie the lure directly to the line i like to use 2 of my favorite knots

i use jigs for flipping, and i tie the jig straight to the fishing line.never had a problem with it.caught some 8 and 10 pounders on it.never used a leader of any kind.

If you are talking about jigging for Cod or Snapper out in saltwater, then I use 8-12in. 50lb leaders made up with stainless steel barrel swivels. For freshwater just tie the jig directly to your line. 40yr exp.
