Using telescopic rods and floats we fish off the rocks in Southern California for opaleye, sheephead, and bass. We start off with the basic equipment and show you how to rig up all your gear necessary to get fishing. We show you how to spool your line after you install it on the rod, how to open a Telescopic Fishing Rod, and how to set up the float leader.

These places that have kelp too are the main places to try. However the opals will be around the rocks as well. Youll also catch perch, lings, wrasse, etc.

I didnt get to fish a lot in OC. Dana Point has some places and thats just about as far south as I went regularly. I dont know the names of the other spots I went to.
Any place that has deepwater or kelp and at least 10 or 15 feet of water that drops off close to the deepwater is good. Sometimes you can see where the water is clear and then gets dark it is a dropoff.
The long beach …
The long beach jetty is a ok spot along with the seal beach jetty that runs along side long beaches jetty. Parking with meters at the long beach jetty. Calis halis and other can be cought. Gear depends on what your going for . High dropper lop rig works best with a 2oz weight so you wont get snaged every time you bring it in. hope that helps.

Any of the beaches generally you can fish for surf perch, corvina, and croaker. The jettties if you can get just far enough out where the waves are beginning to crest and break, you can catch corvina and croaker. Occasionally bass.

Off the PCH is a good place to hop on and off the beach. Id take stuff for surf perch, corvina, and croaker too. I fish a carolina rig with a Kalin grub or sand shrimp. My favorite spots on PCH are at the White Sands and at the rocks just at the base before you get to it at that parking access spot.

I found most of my spots just by exploring. It miight not be the fastest way but you sure will find some good spots from time to timt that arent crowded.
