I am new at sea shore fishing, but I need some good graphical instructions on how to make a line, dimensions & style of rigs. Please help.

the simplest and one of the most effective:
1-long rod 9ft. med action spinning
2-20 lb. main line
3-sliding sinker 1-2 0z.slide on main line
4- barrel swivel tied on
5-10lb. leader tied to that about 3 ft.
6-hook of your choice i prefer a size 2
7-Bait from local bait shop crab, minnow, worm, etc.
8- set rig in rod holders
set in your lawn chair and open a cold one and relax and wait

This is a good rig for Sea Trout, Red Fish, etc. also works well on rivers,

or you can also cast spoons and crank baits far out in the surf. this is more expensive and harder work.

I see your career has you fishing in Saudi Arabia. I can give you rigs for fishing almost anywhere on any beach or rocks, tide pools and jetty’s but I have no idea what fish you will have there and available. There might be vegetarian fish worth exploring and in Hawaii they throw a bobber (fairly large, clear, slide through type) that can be opened and closed to let water in, holding it trapped to allow the bobber to actually submerge and still hold at certain (different with more or less water in it) depths. From your main line. First, slide the bobber on and then tie a swivel at the end of your mainline attach a leader (about 24") to a small hook and wrap moss or use (no longer) frozen peas. I would try the many depths and this would be most effective around rocks and shoreline structure. Using the same rig you can use the small shrimp along the shoreline (they are about 1/2" long) and two on the hook will find meat eaters in the same waters around the same structures. Changing the hook size to allow larger baits and replacing the bobber with certain sliding sinkers will take the bait down for allowing the bottom feeding meat eaters a shot at your offerings. (this is for sand bottoms) Small baitfish like anchovies and sardines (if you can get them hope they are packed in water) if not try and use a slice of scrap skin from a fish market. Do talk to the fish market proprietors and ask them what might be available in local coastal fish. I think everywhere mullet is a preyed upon specie so if mullet is available buy one and cut it in strips 1/2" X 2-3" putting the hook through the meat side out the skin and then back through the skin and out the meat a second time. (try to get the hook in and out over a bone if you can). try also to leave one side longer (on the bait) so it, like a flag, wags in the current.
I would use no less than 12 pound big game on my main line and use leaders from 6 pound to 30 pound depending on what fishes there are to be taken. 6 pound for the vegans and 10-20 for most all else and 30 pound incase sharks are about. If there are sharks from shore make your leader five to six feet long. Remember fishing in the Mediterranian has been going on for thousands of years, so, if you can find locals to learn from try befriending them, they’ll know best for sure. Weights from 1/2" oz. – 3 oz depending on how far you need to cast out and how far out and how big the waves are breaking along the shoreline. I hope this will result in some great stories to share.

hey man, if you are new to all this, just keep it simple. with the line go with a 20 plus line. nothing really big but big enough. get you a 4-6 aught hook..all depends on what you are going for. tie a runner line to it. just a piece of line about 6 inches. from your main line tie on a 3-4 ounce wieght to the bottom of the line. go up your line about a foot and not a loop on the line. from that loop tie on your runner line. with the line tied like that it will allow your weight to fix itself at the bottom and allow your bait to float around as the surf moves. it is better to do this…cheep way….than go out and spend a pile of money on lures and rigs and find out that you may or maynot like this type of fishing. man i hope that you really do enjoy it. fishing for some is more than a sport it is a way of life and i hope you pick it up and run with it. enjoy your fishing trip. good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
